Young Carers

Young Carers are children or young people whose lives are restricted in some way because they provide care, assistance or support to another family member. The person they care for is often a parent but can be a sibling, grandparent or other relative who needs care or support.

D2 Youth Zone’s Young Carers group commenced in August 2003 and is made up of eleven young people from across the outer west of the city. The group meet every two weeks on Wednesday evenings where they enjoy one evening away from their caring responsibilities and the opportunity to access activities designed to be fun , to date these have included: abseiling, a trip to Alton Towers and horse riding.
